Help Transform a Village

Working with one community at a time

Sometimes you might feel powerless to help people suffering in poverty. The problems seem too big. Our perspective: We can’t change the whole world, but together, we can see One Village Transformed.

A boy in Dak EuyWorld Concern’s campaign matches you with a community for three years. With your support, we will work with the community to accomplish specific goals as they begin to see a better future emerge.

Families in rural Laos, are some of the poorest in the world … living on less than a dollar a day. Food shortages are common, and children suffer from malnourishment. Sicknesses like malaria and diarrhea are rampant and many young children die from treatable diseases because there’s no medical care.

Most children are not in school. Girls, especially, spend their days collecting water and working, instead of being in school. It’s almost impossible to find volunteer teachers willing to work in such an isolated place.

With you, World Concern will walk alongside families in the village of Dak Euy, helping them build their lives and their community from the ground up. Together, we’ll focus on long-term solutions, so the people of Dak Euy can stand on their own.

Our priorities over these next three years will include:

  1. Enough food through improved farming and rice banks
  2. Better health from clean water, hygiene and medical care
  3. Access to education and hope for the future

For $33 a month for three years, you will make a powerful and significant investment in the lives of struggling families.

We cannot do this without you.

Life in Dak Euy, Laos

dak euy child playingDak Euy is a tiny village in the mountains of Laos, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Hoards of squealing children play in the dirt in the center of the village. But invisible to the eye, deadly diseases lurk in the water and soil … even on hands of these little ones. There are no working toilets in this village, and many children are sick with diarrhea.

There is a water source—a pipe carries water from a nearby spring into the village. But the water is contaminated as soon as it comes out of the pipe. Children are bathed in dirty buckets, and use the same area as an outdoor toilet. Parents have no knowledge of hygiene, and disease spreads easily through families.

Mothers in Dak Euy tell us that they’ve almost all lost children to malnutrition and preventable diseases. It’s heartbreaking to hear their stories.

You can help us reach children and families in this village. We’ve got a plan and experience bringing long-term change to villages like this that includes enough food, education, better health, and a future beyond extreme poverty.

Hope is coming to Dak Euy ...

We invite you to walk alongside the people here, with World Concern, as together, we see One Village Transformed.
