Nutributter can help save a baby's life

Life-saving nutrition

A critical time in a child’s life

South Sudan is facing a massive humanitarian crisis. Although the country is now independent from Sudan, decades of war has left it one of the least developed countries in the world. And who is hurt the worst in this turmoil? The boys and girls who are now becoming dangerously malnourished.

There is a critical window of opportunity during a baby’s first 24 months. During this time in particular, good nutrition will have life-long benefits. Malnutrition can negatively impact a child’s health, development, school performance, productivity later in life—even the health of her own children someday.

Conflict and extreme poverty in South Sudan have led to a food shortage. With desperation in her voice, one mom told us,

“My children are wasting away because there is nothing in the house I can give them.”

It doesn’t have to be this way. You can deliver a miracle to young children like this mom’s. This “miracle” is small, inexpensive, and packs essential nutrients a child needs into a little tube. It’s called Nutributter® and it can help save a baby’s life by preventing malnutrition. This peanut-based, ready-to-eat food can be consumed on its own, or mixed into porridge, providing a supplement of essential vitamins and minerals a child 6-24 months needs.

Nutributter® comes in packets no larger than a candy bar. But amazing things come in small sizes. A gift of $60 provides a hungry child with Nutributter® for eight months. Right now, your donation will go much farther, multiplying 15 times because of a government grant. That means $60 will provide enough Nutributter® for 15 children instead of one.

A Miracle in a Little Packet

Nutributter® is a peanut butter-like nutritional supplement, rich in vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Parents mix the Nutributter® paste right into their child’s meal—usually a watery porridge of local grain. Nutributter® helps to prevent childhood malnutrition.

Nutributter

Nutributter® should be given for a minimum of four months, beginning at six months of age. It is not meant to replace breastfeeding or a varied diet of local foods. In many poor countries, a balanced diet is not available. The period between 6-24 months is a critical time frame for a child’s growth and development, and Nutributter® helps prevent malnutrition and life-long deficiencies because of it.

Malnutrition is life-threatening. You’ll help save a baby’s life by providing Nutributter® and ensuring an infant or toddler has the opportunity to grow strong and healthy.
