Amidst violence in Bangkok, Thailand in May 2010, this news blog reported on the fact that World Concern's staff members were safe and our office remained closed that week.

Our humanitarian aid to war refugees in Sri Lanka captured the attention of Kurt Campbell, co-owner of Campbell Nelson Volkswagen. The company's donation helped World Concern serve 23,000 people in Sri Lanka.
The leading nonprofit newspaper, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, featured World Concern's fundraising push in December of 2008, as the troubled economy posed new challenges for all charities. In a full two-page spread in the Jan. 15, 2009 edition, The Chronicle profiled how we successfully reached out to donors to best inform them of how our humanitarian work improves lives.

A World Concern staff member received the grim news that one of her friends from another agency was killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. It was an unprovoked attack on a convoy of clearly marked vehicles.

Every day, more than 5,500 people die from AIDS and 7,000 people contract HIV. World Concern reaches those at risk of getting AIDS and ministers to orphans and others affected by the virus. On World AIDS day, Dec. 1, we publicly recognize the impact of AIDS, and receive media coverage as we raise awareness about the problem.
