World Concern is gaining access to larger supplies of international aid, including food and tarps for temporary shelters. The logistics of getting these supplies through the US government and other sources is easing.
Merry Fitzpatrick, who is leading our disaster relief, says “the dam is breaking.” Until this development, World Concern has relied on its emergency stockpile, which has been depleted, or has purchased food and water in the country. While we have been serving thousands of hungry people so far, this will allow us to serve tens of thousands.
Nearly all World Concern staff is back working to deliver aid to others, though they have suffered losses of homes, family members and friends. Please continue to pray for them. Right now staff members are out assessing the specific needs of hard-hit communities, so they can quickly respond with deliveries of aid as soon as they come in.
