World Concern’s disaster expert Merry Fitzpatrick has landed in Port Au Prince to support the 100+ World Concern staffers already on the ground in Haiti. Getting into Port Au Prince has been an arduous process, taking more than three days. Access for humanitarians continues to be limited, so staffers like World Concern’s Haitian staff are critical for delivering the emergency aid. Areas of Port Au Prince are extremely unstable, with mounting tension from those who have not received relief. Food is becoming an increasing flash point. There is yet to be a system in place on the ground for a coordinated multi-agency effort. World Concern is purchasing what limited supplies are available and distributing to the most needy.
