Christon Domond, World Concern Haiti Director, called this morning after a mobile phone network was repaired. He said they need support immediately. Port-au-Prince is overwhelmed with more dead than they can deal with immediately. Needs for survivors include food now, in addition to plastic sheeting, clean water, medicine and blankets.
Merry Fitzpatrick, Senior Director of Disaster Response, arrived in Haiti today. Merry has 15 years of on-the-ground disaster management experience. Her first priority upon landing is to get set up to coordinate our relief efforts with other agencies. Transportation is by motorbike, as roads are full of debris.
Christon has been able to contact most of the staff, but not all. There are reports of relatives and close family members of staff that have died. Please pray for our staff and for the people of Haiti.
