Asha arrived in Liboi, Kenya, in a wheelbarrow. The bullet wound in her leg prevented her from walking, but it didn’t stop her from fleeing Somalia after an attack by militia on the town where she and her family were staying.
With agony on her face, she told us she had to leave her children behind as she couldn’t travel with them any farther. She needed medical attention, food and water.
Asha longs to be reunited with her children here in Kenya, but she is terrified to return to Somalia.
Many people we’re met have no plans or hope for anything other than living in sprawling, filthy, over-crowded refugee camps, some say … for the rest of their lives. As far as we’re concerned, camping in a tattered tent for the rest of your life is no future at all.
You can be a part of a unique opportunity to actually change the future of these families – some of the most helpless and desperate in the world – by bringing both immediate and long-term change to this area.
